At Osca we focus both on individual leadership development and the design and redesign of organisational systems to ensure the capabilities and behaviours needed are hard-wired into how the organisation works. In our experience, organisational redesign needs to address both of these elements. This is because if all you do is change the capabilities of your staff, then it can be hard to fit them back into the old organisational systems; or worse, these systems force people to revert to their old behaviours. Systems which, after all, created the previous leadership culture you wanted to change. Similarly, if all you do is look at the systems, individuals themselves may become uncomfortable in the new systems or reject them because they do not support the changes.
